Carmen & Roswitha are a DJ duo from Amsterdam who found each other through their shared love for the early days of minimal techno. Their sound can best be described as rhythmic, deep and driven by funky basslines. On Saturday afternoon, they will cover the Boogie Bos stage with a warm blanket of clean clicks, cutting snares, mysterious vocals and bass-filled kicks.
Roswitha has previously played at festivals such as Into the Woods, Wildeburg, and Garbicz, and also produces music with her electronic live-act Roswitha Nash. Carmen started her journey in electronic music more recently, finding her sound in playing at many local raves and festivals such as Georgie’s Wundergarten and Amuse festival. From their studio in Amsterdam Noord, they are constantly developing their individual and communal sounds.
Together they founded ATINATI, a minimal inspired event series. Their inspiration came from a trip to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, where they were captivated by the city’s progressive and activist music scene. The dance floor is a space where norms are shed and a new world is created. In Georgian, ATINATI means ‘the first ray of light in the darkness’ or ‘the first knowledge’.
