
Mame N’Diack Seck Thiam is a Senegalese percussionist, singer, poet, choreographer, actor and songwriter from a renowned griot family. His musical journey began at 17, travelling across West Africa to immerse himself in different cultures and musical traditions.
Since relocating to Uganda in 2010, Mame has developed a distinctive sound by blending West African percussion with traditional Ugandan rhythms. He is widely recognized for introducing the talking drum to new audiences and captivating listeners with its expressive, voice-like sound.
Dedicated to preserving African cultural heritage, Mame founded the annual Yella Cultural Festival, promoting cultural pride, intercultural exchange and collaboration among young people. His mission is to keep traditional music alive while using it to bring people from different cultures together.
